I had a vision for this sampler that was very different than the ones I had previously reproduced. The use of gingham fabric is definitely outside the box but perfectly fits the whimsical design at the bottom of Mary Ann's sampler.
Stitch Count: 162 x 240. The stitched original measured 10 x 17. If you use a 28 count fabric as I did your measurement will be close at 11 x 16. Mary Ann's fabric was an uneven weave.
Classic Colorworks Silk: Evergreen, Teddy Bear, Vanilla Pudding, Weathered Vine (2 needed), and Pecan Pie. Two strands of silk were used for stitching on this fabric everywhere except the over-one stitching.
There is a bit of "over one" stitching in the design making this unsuitable for any fabric woven like aida.

"ADAM AND EVE"
This design is an adaptation taken from the orginal Elizabeth Hancock sampler (see below)
Fabric: 32 Count Vintage Navy Bean linen from Lakeside linens. Stitch Count: 108 x 108 Classic Colorworks: Hazelnut, Sunkissed, Blue Corn and Brandied Pears. Gentle Art Sampler Threads: Forest Glade, Picnic Basket and Endive. Frame: Valley House Primitives
"THE LOUISA B. SNOW SAMPLER"
Fabric: The original design was stitched on fabric that yielded 14 stitches to the inch. It measures 17-¾” wide by 16-¼” tall. I am recommending two different fabrics from Lakeside Linens. The first is a lighter color called Vintage Homespun. Use this if you want the sampler to have a new feel. The second is called Vintage Sand Dune which has an antique look to it and best represents how the sampler looks today. Both are available in 28 and 32 count. Stitch Count: 245 x 226. Louisa stitched all of the dark lettering and the border with one strand of silk so I am recommending doing the same with your sampler. If you wish to use two strands you will need to double the amount of Briar Patch needed to complete the stitching. The flowers, leaves and vines are all stitched with two strands. Classic Colorworks Silk: One each of the following - Orchid, Pom Pom Pink, Spruced, Wheatgrass, Blue Lagoon and Cotton Candy. You will need 4 of Briar Patch.
The pattern also has a hand dyed cotton conversion, one for DMC and also a color way called Diane's silk palette. The last one is a whole new set of silk colors based on reds and yellow greens if you want to really change it up! Please see the pattern for details.

"THE MELICENT TURNER SAMPLER" Fabric: 30 Count Cocoa from Weeks Dye Works Frame: Valley House Primitives Thread: Classic Colorworks Silk in Baguette, Espresso, Poison Apple, Teddy Bear and Weathered Vine. Overdyed cotton conversions are provided for you on the pattern. Note: the letters M and T in the name are stitched over one thread which means the design is not suitable for aida fabric unless you come up with an alternative way of stitching it.

"1785 SAMPLINGS" Fabric: 30 Count Cocoa from Weeks Dye Works(all three designs) Frame: The large design: Valley House Primitives. The small design: "Family Tree" line of frames. Thread: Classic Colorworks Silk in the colors Cobblestone, Angel Blush, Beanstalk, Cinnamon Stick, Collard Greens, Mer Bleu, Oatmeal Scone, Poison Apple, Walk the Plank and Scarecrow. Overdyed cotton conversions are provided for you on the pattern.
Though I have taken great liberties in creating two adaptations from the original, the elements and lettering are truly those of the young stitcher.
All three designs are included in the chart pack and would make a wonderful wall grouping!
